I'm fairly comfortable with using wordpress as a CMS, however I was wondering if this is possible:

I have my main site: SITEeg-MAIN.com
I want this to power all of the content for sub sites:
    SITEeg-MAIN.com/one/ , SITEeg-MAIN.com/two/, etc etc

In other words, each sub site will pull the default content from the MAIN site. But the user will be able to edit this content and it will only affect his/her site.

I thought about installing multiple blogs, but this won't necessarily pull content from the main site? Is there a plugin or something that would assist in using wordpress and created pages/posts as a template to create other sites, then the newly created subsites could edit the content for their sub site?

I did that kind of thing somehow for a website translated in 2 languages (one referring to the other).
I installed 2 blogs, then, I displaid the RSS feed of the other.
So, either you use the RSS feed inclusion code you find in wp-admin/index.php, and put it in a category page for example, or, use a plug-in, like http://www.funponsel.com/blog/archives/2005/04/27/ca-terasi/ but there are other plugins.
