Return Front page from static page to blog (3 posts)

When I initially set up the site I'm working on I set the front page as a static page through Settings>Reading> a static page > Front page: Home. I would like to change the front page (which I have named home) to a blog page.

Here is what I have tried:
I changed my home page back to a blog page by going to Settings> reading settings. There I changed my settings from 'A static page' to 'Your latest posts'. What this does is give me 2 pages; the same Home page that is a static page and and index.php page that can be accessed by clicking on the banner. The index.php page holds the posts. I have also tried selecting 'A static page' and setting both the 'Front Page' and the 'Posts Page' to Home. When I do that WordPress tells me that these settings should not be the same.

Can anyone tell me how to turn my Front Page back into a blog or direct me to the right resource for doing this?

"Front Page displays" should be set to "Your latest posts" and then you would want to delete the page you created to use as your blog page when you initially set up the site. It sounds like a page you called "Home".

Presumably your homepage would be http://yoursite.com/ or http://www.yoursite.com so if your banner is causing any issues linking to /index.php I would suggest changing that as well.
