• Hi,

I am a newbie when it comes to WordPress and website building (scotiashots.com). I’m trying to set up a photography website, and I am wondering if there is a way of increasing the resolution on the main homepage slider. The photos that I upload are not as sharp as they are in my media library. Is there a way to set up the main homepage slider as is done for the logo, where two pictures are uploaded, one for regular resolution and a 2x one for retina resolution? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • If you are using large enough images, meaning twice the size of your slider. then you can use this plugin to fully support retina https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-retina-2x/

The plugin adds the scripts that will replace the slider images. Again if your images are large enough the theme will automatically create the larger files.

I installed the plugin and the images look terrific now. Thanks for your fast and helpful response!

The only odd thing that happened is that if my slider is in Flex mode, it will only show the first image – all subsequent images in the slide are blank. I can switch the image file for the first image, and in each case the first image looks perfect but then the rest are blank.

But if I switch from Flex to Carousel, all the images in the slider play – except that instead of a “Fade” transition, which I have selected, they “Slide” instead.

This isn’t really a huge issue for me since the most important thing is that the images look great, which they do now, but if there is a way to get things running better, I’d love to know how. Thanks again!

    Hey,
So the carousel slider only works with the slide transition… Flex has the fade option, but it seems because of how the slider works the image replacement script isn’t working right for the other images.
Retina support is still not perfected in browsers so I’ll have to do some experiments to see if I can figure out.
