   Hi folks. I have a notion for a WordPress site I'd like to put together, but I'm not overly experienced and thought some advice would be useful.

   The site I'd like to build would be a directory of resumes/CVs for people in a specific profession - let's say film directors. Film directors sign up, and enter their resume into the directory, which people (maybe film producers) can then search through to find the right candidate for their project.

   Ideally the "producer" could apply certain criteria to narrow down their search, such as "directors in Canada," "music video directors" or "sci-fi film specialists." But at the same time, "directors" could have very different things they might want to enter into their resumes and it'd be a shame to limit the info that a user could add.

   It'd be good if there could also be some form of feedback, recommendation or ratings system, too. So when a "director" found through the site has done a good (or bad) job, the "producer" can put some feedback on the "director's" page. This could also form another type of search criteria, being able to sort the directory by highest or lowest rated users.

   So I guess I'm asking for advice on what (assuming there are any) plugins, themes or strategies I could employ to achieve this kind of site using WordPress.

   All advice is very welcome!

   This is exactly what I was looking for too. I am an officer of a student film organization, and we are trying to figure out how to let students post their resumes, so when a student is looking for crew or actors, they can look at resumes and head-shots on the members profile. so far I have nothing that can provide this or a similar functionality. If I find anything I'll let you know.

   Try a custom form plugin.

   I have thought about that, but its not much of an option. that would only address 1/3 of the problem at best. first you need members to be able to post resumes, head-shots for actors, and video reels for filmmakers. this would be displayed on their profile page. then you would need to be able to search by age, gender, skills, experience, etc. Members would also be able to post gigs/projects, with synopsis and what type of crew and actors they need. And last you would be able to rank members that worked on your projects based on their performance and reliability. I am thinking that something like the Custom Profile Filters for BuddyPress plugin and the CubePoints Buddypress Integration plugin might get me somewhere near what I want.
