    the website is http://www.agirlinlove.com/heretoday

    I'm using 1and1.com

The sql database (it's 4.0) accidently got deleted (accidentally means I clicked the wrong thing and than died a little)
    I called 1and1
they saved it from propegating and retrieved my database

I have the sql dump BUT I had to make a new database to import it to
    I imported it
I updated the config. php with the new info

    BUT

when I go to the blog it asks me to set up a new site (the wordpres famous 5 minute install)

Is this right I'm TERRIFIED that I'll do this and it'll overwrite all my info

    is there any hope

please please please I'll be forever in the persons debt who can help me!

Thank you so much in advance

You didn't give any details, but if you just deleted your database in 1on1's system management panels, you should simply have recreated it (i.e. - a blank database with the same name), added your still existing database ID to the database with full access, and restored the database from the SQL "dump". Everything should be back to normal at that point, without making any changes to wp-config.php.

I don't know what you've done, but you are right: re-installing WordPress will undoubtedly wipe out the database.

All that said, this sounds more like the information in wp-config.php is wrong.

I'm sorry not the best forum post

    I have the database dump
I have a data base to put it
the database I have to put it in is NOT named the same
I don't think I can get the same name

Can I change the config to match the new name and have it pull in the exisiting information from the recreated but newly named sql database?

    thanks

Yes, restoring to a new database name and changing the database name in wp-config.php does work -- I do it all the time to create Test systems that are clones of my Production WordPress system.

The easiest place to make a mistake is with the database user ID required to connect to the database. Not creating it, having it or its password incorrect in wp-config.php, not giving it full access to the database.
