Responsiveness especially on smaller screens

Hi, was wondering if any one can recommend some CSS to help get my site to render better on smaller screens (I’m thinking tablet-landscape and also netbook).

At the moment, the widgets get piled one on top of the other on smaller screens. I don’t mind this happening on very small screens but on netbook size, I don’t think it should be necessary. I would rather the width of the site from 1024x and upwards did not change.
