Responsive Navigation

When a website using this theme is viewed on a narrow screen, navigation items (about, contact, services etc.) pile up on top of each other and cover the text and images on the page.
Is there a way to make the navigation bar hide everything but the word “navigate” when the website is viewed on a narrow screen, so that the navigation items don’t appear until you click or hover other the navigation bar?
