   Although I put the width at 600px or height at 500px, I find they're too big for the post and they throw out my sidebar. So, I try to resize by moving the handles. Well, I get either skinny or fat picture even though I hold down the shift key.

   What is the right way to do this?

   Also, if I want to post thumbnails, is there a way to double click it to get a large picture?

   Go to Admin/Media and try setting the medium image size to 500 px wide.

   When you insert an image, select either Post URL or File URL in the Add Media window.
