I am hosting a high-traffic WordPress site on Rackspace and our configuration is using 2 cloud servers behind a load balancer. Since installing and setting up BPS we continuously see errors in our log file related to the issue mentioned in the topic title: "Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects..."

We have a managed hosting account, and according to the server admins, this is the issue:

This definitely looks like something done on your end by the developers, maybe a code update. The issue is usually related to the code located in the file:

    /var/www/vhosts/wendyshow.com/web/content/.htaccess

Where the configured redirects will go into an infinite loop causing these issues, I have changed the logging level to get more details of the issue so that we can help the developers look in the right direction to find the solution,

Here is the output of the logging:

[Mon Jan 13 10:19:13 2014] [error] [client 10.189.254.6] Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use 'LimitInternalRecursion' to increase the limit if necessary. Use 'LogLevel debug' to get a backtrace., referer: http://www.wendyshow.com/2014/01/06/show-your-love-for-wendy/

What can I do to prevent this error from occurring?

A 10 Network (Class A) IP address 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 is a private Internal IP address and should not be used on the Internet. Most likely you have a routing problem with your Server/Proxy/Load Balancer.

If for some odd reason the 10 Network IP address is supposed to be used (very seriously doubt that or maybe LogLevel is showing the Internal Server/Proxy IP) then turn Off BPS Security Logging and see if that solves the problem.

    Hey @AIT,
I was getting the same items in my log and yes, turning off the error logging in BPS did keep them from showing up.
NOTE: this was only occurring when visiting via Internet Explorer.

Yep, if your particular Server does not allow or has not implemented an automated way for your local website to handle error logging then this will cause a redirect loop every time: error occurs >>> BPS and your server handle the error >>> bounce from point A to B >>> B to A >>> A to B.................................
