Reposting with Pretty Hyperlinks (4 posts)

If I want to take an old post and move it all the way up in the list of posts so that it looks like a new post, then doing so is apparently trivial with default permalinks. But with pretty permalinks, such as "Day and name," it means changing the entry's permanent URL, because the only way to repost is to update the entry's date and time which gets reflected in the permalink. But if other people have linked to the old post which is being made to look like a new one, their links get broken as a result of this procedure. I'd like a feature that will make re-posting as easy with customized permalinks as with default ones.

Why not just copy the contents of the old post into a new one and that way you don't have to worry about broken links.

Chrisber, that would mean duplicating content which is something best avoided.

You can redirect old links via 301 redirects.
