   It appears that index.php has been modified:

   That's standard in the files (should be the only lines found in "wp-content/index.php" - from versions waaaaaaay back). Been there for a looooong time (just like finding the lyrics to "Daisy" at the end of the Kubrick stylehseet). The fact that this was all the guy could see means he had an error somewhere and should check his PHP logs. It's not a hack job - it's just a cute comment the creators included in the files.

   I just installed 2.1.2, but the creation date on wp-content/index.php is Nov 18, 2005. So yes, that is an old file.
