Support » Fixing WordPress » replacing a blogger blog with wp

  • I have a blogger blog that has been ftp’d to my site for a year now and want to replace it with wp. I’ve been able to move and import easily (what a great feature!) with other blogs I’ve moved, but then I moved those to their own sub domains.

Right now the path for the blogger blog is
    http://olderwiserwomen.com/blog/owwblog.html

I want to install wp in …/blog
I guess I can’t because the blogger blog is there.

My thought is to move the first blog back to blogger (undo the ftp) and then delete anything that would be in the …/blog folder and then try and install.

My other thought is do make a new directory, intall the wp blog, get it ready to go and then just drag the whole thing to the proper directory.

Assuming both ways work, which is better, safer and less confusing for this relative wp newbie?

If both of these way are wrong, I’m open to suggestions.

    Thanks in advance!

    bcp

  • I haven’t done this before but I plan to do this. Crete the WP blog in it’s own directory. make sure it all works the way it should.

Then, rename the directory the original blogger blog is in (in you case neme “/blog” to “/old_blog”. The rename the WP blog folder “blog”.

    That should do it?
