Renaming the admin account won’t help substantially. Yes, it will make it harder for someone to log in directly as you, by brute-forcing the password; but beyond that it won’t help.
If someone can execute a SQL injection, as was possible with the recent XMLRPC exploit, they can access your admin account because the admin account is always user ID 1.
Following from that then, if I changed my admin ID number to another number would that impact anywhere ? I can’t see that it would on a single user blog, but on a multi-user too ?

If you changed your admin ID _before_ you made any posts, it wouldn’t be too hard.
Changing your admin ID _after_ you have a body of posts will require you to update all the posts and any comments you’ve made, to use the new admin ID.
