• I have been asked by a friend to rebuild their site on wordpress. (I had success building my own site, but was able to start from the beginning, choose my own web host etc). My friends site only has one page and he does not want to keep any of the current content.
The site is an addon domain, hosted at crazy domains.

So I have installed wordpress on the correct domain name, and also downloaded and installed a theme (but not activated it yet on the WP admin panel).

So normally from here, I’d get started making pages etc. But I’m not sure what to do with the existing home page? It wasn’t created using wordpress. How do I get rid of it? I am extremely clueless here and terrified of making an awful mistake ( like deleting content, as well as the entire domain!)

    Thanks : )

  • Hi,

When you say original home page many hosts have index.html or index.php as their default home page which may show message like website underconstruction or website is hosted at so and so hosting.

Kindly try to remove that file.

In case the site shows the wordpress home page then no worries just go to settings>readings and set up a static home page of your choice.

Hope this helps. Share your domain name in case this doesn’t answer your question
