• The theme that I am using for my blog has two sidebars. I want to use the standard theme on all but one page. Is there a way for me to remove the sidebars from just one page? When I edit the page, I do not see any easy way to remove the sidebars for that page only. Thanks

  • I believe your best bet is to copy the page.php file in your theme directory. In my case, I made it page-news.pgp. I modified the new page-news.php template file to not have the sidebar.php loaded.

Once you have that, when you are editing the page in the admin console, on the right navigation is a drop down for specifying the page template. Select the new template you made described above and it will use that.

Note: The file names above were what mine were called from the theme I use. The theme you are using may use something different. Also, to my knowledge, you can only do this on a page, not a post.

    Good luck.

I see this was posted 5 months ago, perhaps prior to WP 2.5? I don’t see a dropdown option for a page template choice. Am I missing something or is it possible this is a plugin? Or is this not available for 2.5?

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks~

The otpion is NOT visible if you don’t have additonal Page templates (i.e. more than the default page.php)

We created new.page.php as a template but we cannot find any option to select in when building or modifying a page.

    Please advise.
