Removing .screen-reader-text distorts theme (1 post)

    Hi everybody,

    I am new to this and decided to create a new theme to practice some css and html. My issue is that when I remove the screen-reader-text section from style.css the whole theme is distorted (font becomes smaller, widths change, images are distorted. If you want an example, try deleting the following code from the Twenty Ten theme:

    .screen-reader-text {
    position: absolute;
    left: -9000px;
    }

    Link for Twenty Ten theme

    My site is only running locally for now, but the effect is the same as with the theme above. It's not that I want to remove the screen-reader-text, I just don't understand why this is happening and I am concerned about what will happen if people try to access the site on other machines.

    Thanks

    PS:
    Currently working on a Mac, meaning in Apple's wisdom I cannot change the system's default font size to see what happens.
