Update: I just found the file in labeled ‘follow-button-jetpack’ and removed it completely.. it seems to have done the trick!

It seems you had installed an extra plugin, named “Follow Button for Jetpack”:
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/follow-button-for-jetpack/

As you discovered, you can remove the button by uninstalling and deleting the plugin from the Plugins menu in your dashboard.

I wasn’t able to find the plugin in the plugins menu – I ended up deleting the “follow-button-jetpack” folder (I’m using Syntheis, so I used CyberDuck to find it and just deleted the entire folder) but now my JetPack Subscriptions isn’t working? When new users enter their email, it shows a message saying an email confirmation was sent, but then nothing is sent (I tested it on five different accounts). Are these two issues related? What should I do? (Thanks in advance for your help!)

I apologize, I started a new thread continuing this question (which is still unresolved) and it was brought to my attention that I should keep both issues on the same thread. The active thread is:

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/emails-not-being-sent-to-new-subscribers-jetpack-subscriptions?replies=8#post-4909422

I will mark this thread as resolved, so the discussion can continue there without confusion.

Let’s start by getting rid of that Follow button you don’t want to see in the bottom right corner of your site:

    1. In your dashboard, go to the Plugins menu:
      http://prayersandapples.com/wp-admin/plugins.php
    2. Search for a plugin named “Follow button for Jetpack”
    3. Click on “Deactivate” under the plugin’s title.
    4. Once the plugin is deactivated, click on “Delete”, and confirm the deletion.

Let’s now look at the other issue at hand: when someone subscribes to your site, no confirmation email is being sent.

I entered my own email address into the form, and submitted: I received the following success message: http://i.wpne.ws/Sbv4
A few seconds later, I received this confirmation email in my inbox: http://i.wpne.ws/SbzN
I clicked the confirm link, and my email address now appears in your list of subscribers. You can follow the instructions here to access your subscriber list:
    http://jetpack.me/support/subscriptions/#view-your-email-subscribers

It’s worth noting that we only send one confirmation email per email address. If you’ve attempted to subscribe in the past but never confirmed your subscription, we won’t send any new confirmation email if you use the form again.
That’s probably why you don’t receive any confirmation emails when using your test email addresses.
If you can’t find your old confirmation email, you can confirm the subscription here:
    https://subscribe.wordpress.com/

I hope this clarifies things a bit.

Thank you so much! That was probably it – thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question in such detail! And I was able to get rid of the Follow button as well 🙂 Thanks!
