Removing folder from url description

    I built a site offline, in a folder named “wordpress”.

    I followed directions and uploaded it to folder “htdocs”.

    Now my URL structre is:

    website.com/wordpress/page1

    I would like to remove, wordpress from the URL and file structure. Can someone provide information how to do this, whether a link to wordpress codex or informative articles?
