   I found some websites removed copyright notice from the bottom of all pages. Is that legal?

   Which copyright notice? There is no law specifically requiring any copyright notice, however it is good to include it for what it is worth regarding your content. If you are using someone else's theme, they may also require a copyright notice as part of their license, but many of them also include links to a sponsor / money making page which is more than a bit obnoxious.

   What type of copyright notice has got you so concerned?

   It's legal and it's fine with the license that WordPress is distributed under.
