Removing automatic links to product categories

I want to remove the automatic links to all product categories when displaying specific product categories. For example, I have two product categories – Middle Leaders and NQTs. When a customer clicks on NQTS the first links they display are Middle Leaders AND NQTs. It is confusing, therefore I would like to remove them.
