Remove title from gallery image (8 posts)

    Hi, I'm using a standard WordPress gallery, but when the images are enlarged, the image title is used beneath the image. I know I can remove it manually from the title field, but I'm uploading several hundred images. Is there a way for me to remove this without removing all other image titles from the site?
    Many thanks

    Please post a link to your site, so we can inspect it in the browser. You may be using a plugin or theme that uses JavaScript to display gallery images, in which case the solution would be different than if you're using a standard WordPress gallery...

    Hi Shaun

    Many thanks for getting back to me - my gallery is on this page:

    I would also like to hide the image titles.

    I use the built in WP 3.5.2 galleries, and all my images have been uploaded with the default title of the file name, which is displayed at the TOP of my gallery displays in an extra line so scrolling is required.

    It would be lovely to hide both the title and the header image in the gallery image view.

    @sstowell, you can post that on your own thread.

    @vickym: Add this to your theme's style.css file:

    .fancybox-title.fancybox-title-outside-wrap {
        display: none;
    }

    Shaun Scovill - you're a gem. That worked a treat. Thank you so much for your time with this. Do you have any magic css tricks which would remove the alt tag on rollover as well?

    Actually, that's not the <img> alt tag -- it's the <a> title tag, which seems to be getting assigned the value of the <img> alt tag. If the <a> tag for each image in the gallery had no title attribute, you wouldn't see it on hover.

    Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to remove that when using the image gallery shortcode...there aren't any parameters for that.
