Remove Theme Designer Banner from Header (5 posts)

I would like to upload my own header, remove the 'theme designer' credit and replace this with my own banner. My theme is MegaNews and this is my URL.

    - Theme options shows no features to change this.
    - At this moment I'm not authorized to edit the header.php or any other .php file. I can't seem to figure out where I can change these settings so I can edit the .html codes of the theme.

Q: How can I change my header?

    This is the header.php code:

[Code moderated as per the Forum Rules. Please use the pastebin]

    Thanks in advance!

if you are logged in as administrator, you should be able to do this automatically.

if not, check with the administrator to give you higher management capabilities.

can you access the files on your server using ftp?

if so, you will find the right image here:
    /wordpress2/wp-content/themes/meganewstheme/images/ad468x60.jpg

    and the sitename/logo image here:
    /wordpress2/wp-content/themes/meganewstheme/images/logo.gif

exchange it with your own image of the same dimensions

    @alchymyth. Thnx for the reply.

How / Where can I change my status to 'administrator'? It's just me as an individual trying to create a nice free website for my business...

can you access the files on your server using ftp?

Yes, I see the pictures and am able to photoshop them. Problem is that the html coding still links to the Theme Credit. I really need to get myself 'administrator' authority I guess. How do I do this? This is the first time I use WordPress :-)

Who knows how to do this? I tried the Codex tutorial but found this to be to difficult...

    Thanks a lot!

can you log-in into the dashboard?

'usually' when you create a wordpress installation, you have to provide an email address, where wordpress will send a password to, which you need to use to log in for the first time - under the username 'admin'. this first user gets all full administrator rights.

    what did you do differently?

if you remember the email you provided, try to login as 'admin' and click 'lost your password?'

as described in the above link, you can ftp all theme files - get them from the server, edit them locally on your computer (using something like notepad) and ftp them up to the same location. i do this all the time.
this way you can edit theme files without logging into your wordpress installation.
