remove pages temporarily without deleting

    Hi

    I want to take my website down for a few months but I want to keep a copy of it somewhere so I can make some changes to it later and re-publish it. How can I do this? If I put the pages and posts into trash I think they only stay their for 30 days and then get deleted completely. How else can I un-publish them but keep them somewhere?

    It is a very minimal site – just one page two posts.

    Personally, I would use a plugin that puts your website in ‘maintenance’ or ‘under construction’ mode., This way your website address is still active, but only the Administrator can see the posts.

    Alternatively, you can republish your posts and page as ‘Private’:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Content_Visibility

    If you make everything Private though, Google will encounter Page Not Found errors and drive your website ranking down.
