Hi people, i’m new at wordpress but i’ve managed to install it and it’s running on my server now (win7 with xampp). I do have one problem that i hope someone here can help me with.

I created my own template using Artisteer 3.1 but no matter what i try i cannot get rid of the pages listed in the categories (they list on the top bare which is the only place i want them), i fear i need to go into the php files and do the changes there – thus my fear for messing up something – and i do not know which file to edit.

You can see what i mean from this picture http://picpaste.com/pics/my_problem-9sdotFlp.1340275238.jpg
(this link is valid in 7 days)

I’ve smudged out the text below the home link for personal reasons, but basically i want to get rid of everything below home in this Categories box.

I sure hope anyone can help me 🙂

  • Usually those are ‘default’ widgets that appear when there’s nothing in the sidebar at that location.

Have you tried putting something in that sidebar location to see if they go away?

I added the Text widget now Frumph, and then it all went away.So i guess i can keep that there with no text entered and also add the categories and seach widget to get the look i want?
