    i'm new to using wordpress. The site is here http://hobiefleet95.com. I like the theme i'm using but here is what I don't like:
    * images are processed and dont' display as I authored them. They appear with rounded corners and a border. I want to control images and have them appear without rounded edges and border but I can't figure out where word press is doing this?
    * I don't wan the global menu at all to display. How do I turn it off and recover teh top 1inch or so of the web page.

    Advice appreciated.

    Hi lynnylove,

    !!! Make sure you have a back-up of all files you alter, before you make any changes. Should you need to you can reverse your actions... !!!

    A first look at your site's css suggests line 357 of the style.css needs altering.
    Current code:

    .entry-content img, .comment-content img, .widget img, img.header-image, .author-avatar img, img.wp-post-image {
        border-radius: 3px 3px 3px 3px;
        box-shadow: 0px 1px 4px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2);
    }

    Remove [or block by surrounding it with /*...*/] the line
    border-radius: 3px 3px 3px 3px;
    Result:

    .entry-content img, .comment-content img, .widget img, img.header-image, .author-avatar img, img.wp-post-image {
        box-shadow: 0px 1px 4px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2);
    }

    Please check if more border-radius: are in the css-file and block or remove them.
    Check the results after each alteration until the desired results are achieved.

    To remove the main menu would result in clients being unable to navigate the various pages of your site. Perhaps I misunderstand?

    Line 541 of style.css reads:

    .site-header {
        padding: 1.71429rem 0px;
    }

    Reduce the padding or change to

    .site-header {
        padding:0;
        margin:0;
    }

    This will move the main navigation closer to the top of the page
