• Hi everyone,

I’ll preface by apologizing for lack of familiarity with vernacular. Here is my problem: at the top of all my posts, by default, the words “Default Thumbnail.” appear. It is a permanent link to the post.

    http://www.dataveillant.com/

I cannot find a way to remove this or change it. I want people to find a permanent link, but this is aesthetically bothering and does not actually feature a thumbnail. I hoping you can help me remove it altogether without losing permalinks. Alternately, can we change the bloody “Default Thumbnail.” as there is no thumbnail? It is misleading as there is no thumbnail, just the misplaced words themselves.

    Thanks!

  • Hi there might be a setting somewhere in your theme to “hide thumbnails”. Another idea is to create a “default thumbnail image so it appears as your link image in all posts.. which could be a nice touch name it: thumbnail.jpg this which goes into your images folder.
Alternatively you could simply just upload a small image for each of your posts, which would also look nice.
Also you could place this question to the Theme developer, go to your theme plugin page and ask there, they might know the correct way to not show thumbnails..

    Hi hartmutnz,

Thank you very much for your time and response. I made a thumbnail.jpg graphic and it worked very well. The graphic seems to be displacing the embedded drop shadow behind it for whatever reason. Any idea as to how to fix this?

Also, if you don’t mind, could you please suggest as to how I can stop the theme from showing only previews of my blogpost? I’d like the whole thing to show as opposed to these little previews. Please note that I have examined every theme option per se and no where is this choice made available.

Very grateful for your time and expertise – thank you kindly!

Update: the dropshadow issue corrected itself, somehow.

I’ve looked for the_exerpt() in index.php, also searched in every either .php and couldn’t find it. I read that changing it to the_content() fixes the problem for most, but no dice. I’m not too concerned about so whatever 🙂 Thanks again, hartmuntz + others

Good to hear this worked for you!
Re “display full posts on frontpage”
    Go to DASHBOARD
    SETTINGS
    Click on READING
Set: Front page displays, to >>> Your latest posts
Set: For each article in a feed, to >>> show Full text

    SAVE SETTINGS
This should be all you need to do.

Thanks a lot, hartmutnz. I gave your directions a shot, and the Readings Settings were already set to Full Text. It’s no biggie, if you have any other thoughts they are certainly welcomed but if not, you’ve been tremendously helpful. Thanks a lot man.

Hi tawmoose, sorry, can’t think of anything to fix the full text issue, maybe it’s a good idea to start a new thread to get some answers, as it’s more theme specific I would place that into the THEME support area.. good luck.
