Remove dashed lines ..shrink space between Heading & Menu

Just started using WordPress.org and am playing around with the Read template. I’m trying to figure out how to do two things:

1. I want to remove the dashed line under the Site Name and then the ones above and below the horizontal menu. I tried to find a border code that I could delete or set to a white color to make these disappear in the Header and the style sheet, but failed. What/where do I edit to eliminate these lines?

2. Also, I want to shrink the space between the Site Title and the Menu, specifically bring up the Menu towards the Site Title. I tried to look for the padding sizes that I could change in Heading and style sheet and shrink this space, but couldn’t figure it out. Help?
