I have set User registration is required.

    Hi Dwenaus,

If I understand what you’re asking, you’re wanting to leverage the Ad Management panel, but you’re seeing the old style Edit Ad access key request on the front end. You can change that by enabling Ad Management panel under Classifieds->Settings, General tab (at the bottom).

We are moving that to a more prominent location for our next release.

I checked that off and it takes me to : http://mydomain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=awpcp-panel.

I want the user to be able to edit the specific add in the front end. Why is there no link to edit the add currently being viewed?

The ad can be edited on the front end if you turn off the ad management panel, but then you are required to use an access key to validate that the ad is actually yours in that case. It’s either/or–ad management or access key edit.

But if the user is logged in (or I’m an admin) why can’t the system know that it’s their ad? I’ve made it so only registered users can post ads.

I’m an admin or a logged in user. I place an ad. Then I go back to that ad, still logged in and cannot edit it! it asks for an email access key. this is a major usability issue.

if I turn on the ad management panel, people leave the front of the site to the backend. very disturbing for users.

is there any solution to this?

on our site, we disable users from viewing the backend. so now there is no other way that to do an email verification for users to edit their ad. even though they were logged in when they placed it and logged in when they are editing it. Even the site admin gets the access key request and cannot edit in the front end.

    Hi Dwenaus,

Right now, those are the only two editing options. I agree with you that logged in users should be able to edit directly–the original mechanism was added by another developer a long time ago and we never revisited it since we added the Ad Management panel. I’ll add this to the list of features to change. Thanks for the feedback.

has this been fixed? My client is going to have to disable the plugin and use another because of this strange behaviour/bug.

No, we haven’t been working on this because of some other critical issues that came up since our release 3 weeks ago. I’m sorry it’s not ready for you now.

    do you have an ETA?

    (@awpcp)

I don’t have a specific ETA right now as this change is fairly new and we have a big backlog we’re working through with some larger features (e.g. BuddyPress integration).

    any ETA now?

I agree, the key access to edit is a major drawback. I tried to use this plugin for a simple non-pay classifieds board, but the key to edit issue was the only drawback and caused me to look elsewhere. I do not want users in the admin panel – it is way too confusing, especially if they are only there just to edit an ad.

    +1

I have ended up using osclass.org

They have pretty much ripped off WordPress anyway so if you can template one, you can template the other.
