Removal of Sidebar (2 posts)

To start off, I have no idea what version of WordPress I am using, but I downloaded it about 6 days ago. I could use some help with my issue if anyone has the time to explain.

I created a site, and I'm using the theme 'raindrops' by Tenman it says version 1.009. The theme comes in a 1 and 2 sidebar layout, but I liked the setup and went with it.

I have come to the point where I no longer want a sidebar, but there is no option to just remove it.

I use Godaddy FTP and searched every file. I came across HTML>wp-includes>theme-compat-sidebar.php. I checked other peoples same question and some of the information seemed relatively the same.

My questions - What are the steps to removing a sidebar, while allowing text to flow through the rest of the page (not leave a black bar on the side)?

    and

How do I manipulate these files, even changing small bits of codes like header information (then saving) doesn't seem to change anything at all.

Thank you to anyone that can help.

    Hi kleenfreeks

I have come to the point where I no longer want a sidebar, but there is no option to just remove it.

    Step1
Create a page title 'home' entry blank.
Select the template 'Full-width Page Template,No Sidebar' from the page attribute metabox.

    Step2
Open the admin menu Apearance / Themes / and customize link click
    Theme Customizer shown.
    Select the Static Front Page
Select a static page radio button then maybe shown Front page select box
    Select 'home' (Step1 create page)
    Save click
    Close click

    Finish.

How do I manipulate these files, even changing small bits of codes like header information (then saving) doesn't seem to change anything at all.

Would you explain what he would like to carry out concretely?

    Thank you.
