• i can’t edit my theme!! in the bottom, it’s written
“If this file were writable you could edit it.”
    There is no “update” button..
    please help me?!?!

I read earlier response to a similar question, but the response evidently about changing the CHMOD 666 theme files WP theme editor, didn’t make any sense. I did find the “theme editor.php” but didn’t see anything that was “644” or “CHMOD” or “666”. Need really plain instructions. Thanks

  • you have to open your site with a tool that can change file permissions e.g. FTP (Smartclient FTP). Browse to the files of your template in wp-content\themes\yourtheme
Change the files permissions to 666 or user, group, and world: write permission.
