• Greetings fellow WordPress nerds!

I’m replacing my current WordPress website with a completely new one. I have a new database and have recreated all of my posts again from so none of the existing permalinks will match.

My question: is there a way to direct traffic going to the existing links to the new URLs even if I have to do it manually? One of my posts in particular has had over 80,000 views and continues to get them from external links, so I really don’t want to lose that traffic.

    Thanks in advance

    Hey there,

I’m very uneducated in domains and such, but a couple things:

    1. see if any “redirect” plugins for WordPress suit your needs: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=redirect&sort=
    2. if there’s no solutions there, focus on your most popular posts at least and see if you can manually redirect them to their new equivalents
    3. a good move might be to redirect all links from the old URL to a common page, one that explains the move and gives advice, for example, to head to the new URL and search for the same article

I know this wasn’t what you were looking for, but maybe it can at least help you not lose that traffic while you do figure out a solution. 🙂
