    Hi,

I am having innumerable issues with wordpress recently and many reasons seem to be database out of sync with wordpress files and definitely I've spent enough time to research and could not fix it.
Here's what I want to do.
    1. Take/basic html back up of posts, categories, comments and all such data (like when you take a backup of blogger to migrate to moveabletype)
    2. Delete wordpress installation
    3. Delete existing database
    4. Create fresh new database
    5. Install wordpress
    6. Reinsert the data from the text/basic html backup, into the new database.

I think this will resolve all the issues.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vinayak

Not sure why you are experiencing 'database out of sync' issues...

    But your approach sounds good.

Also remember version 2.3 of WordPress is scheduled for Sept 24 release.

I would also suggest you could try the Export before you trashed the old blog, then do the Import once you installed the new blog.

Thanks for the reply. But you are not getting the point. Export would mean the same database again being used. I just don't want to use the old database, however the content needs to be preserved.

I am 100% sure the new release might not fix the issues. I've been upgrading it since 2.2 release in the hope that things will be back to normal. But it simply is not the problem of wordpress files. It's the database.

So to recap, the most important questions here are,
    1. How to Take/basic html back up of posts, categories, comments and all such data (like when you take a backup of blogger to migrate to moveabletype)?
    2. How to Reinsert this content/data from the text/basic html backup, into the new database?

    Thanks very much,
    Vinayak

    1. There is no "html" backup - as far as I know.
The closest(?) might be to use the Export feature in your admin panel - and Import in your newly installed bog.
