Registrations don't send comfirmation email (5 posts)

I just put a forum on my blog.

When you register to the forum no confirmation email is sent out, so the person who registered can't confirm their email to use my forum.

This person does become registered to my blog, however.

Now, all of this is handled through WordPress, because the forum is a plug-in.

I tested adding a new user to my WordPress blog, and the same thing happens -- no confirmation email is sent out.

Whether registering with the forum, or with the blog, upon clicking "register" the user is taken to a blank, white screen with no message, which is surely an error. There should be some text here confirming registration.

Now, I have tried three plug-ins to try to set up my email on WordPress. None of them work, including HGK SMTP and New User Email.

I am using Twenty Ten Weaver as a theme.

I really want to get my forum going.

I found some other info online about this blank screen, and it suggested to edit the class-phpmailer.php file. I don't even have this file visitor on the editor.

And I know nothing about coding, I just blunder through using plug-ins and basic html.

    Any help *really* appreciated.

  2. Which forum plugin?

Does WordPress send out emails if you turn OFF the forum plugin?

Does WordPress send out emails for anything (like comment moderation etc etc)?

Hello there, thanks for the response.

    It is Simple:Forum.

When the plug-in is turned off, the same thing happens upon registration.

It doesn't send out such emails. Not sure why.

    Hey there.

    I solved the problem.

I turned off all the plug-ins and found out the MeeNews Newsletter plug-in was causing this.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction re: plug-in deactivation.

  5. Yep, debugging 101 is the plugin deactivation :) With 10,000 plugins, the combinations are phenomenal.
