I’m getting this too but haven’t changed anything.
Jetpack was working (email to post) about a week ago now it’s stopped working.
As the title suggests, I’m getting this error >> register_http_request_failed

So, just to clarify, I have jetpack 2.5 with wp 3.7.1
It was all working fine but now it’s not & I can’t connect.

This is for a client’s site. I set up jetpack specifically for the ’email to post’ feature. I’ve been showing them how great it is and now, the first time they try it, it fails, which doesn’t make me look very good.

Any ideas why the connection has been lost?

  • Many of us with the same problem now.
I am hosting severeal sites on my own servers and I’ve got no clue whatsoever what’s expected of my servers regarding this 🙁

    So, perhaps a WP.com problem?

I think possibly there are going to be a lot of new ‘register_http_request_failed’ posts to follow.

Very! But I’ve also been at the sharp end of topics that were completely wrecked by people chiming in left, right and centre. Trying to sort them out was no fun at all.

It’s working now so it must have been a WP.com issue.
Any ideas what? Is it likely to happen again?

    Thanks in advance

I do really, really (really) appreciate that software like WP & JP are so amazing & free. I just get frustrated when problems that are out of my control.

My hat is doffed in the direction of everyone involved.

Thanks all for the reports! We’ve now fixed the issue, you should be able to connect your site to your WordPress.com account.

If you still experience issues, can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site?

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
    3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button.

    Thanks!
