My site was hacked, including the .htaccess file.

In the process of recovering it, I deleted the corrupted .htaccess file.

I had seen a post saying that it could be regenerated from the setting section of the admin page, but have been unable to do this.

How can I generate another and where does it go?

I know this was stupid, but well . . .

If you have .htaccess file and writable then you can log in admin panel and reset your permalinks from Settings>>>Permalinks.

That's not good. Did you delouse it all out and lock down your installation?

To recreate your .htaccess file visit your permalinks setting and save them again. That should create for you a new file or at least tell you exactly what to put into that file.

Nah, deleting a suspect .htaccess file was the right thing to do. Just give those links a read on top, you really want to make sure you've cleaned it out and closed the door on the Bad Guys.
