    using wp 3.4.2 and theme twenty twelve. Not sure how to reduce the margin between the bottom of the header buttons, and the beginning of the page below?

    Do you have a Child Theme or Custom CSS plugin?

    child theme :) also, how do I increase the margin on the left hand side of a page, so that it effectively starts in line with my button bar? sorry - not too tech-savvy!

    If you haven't created your theme from scratch, you should avoid editing that theme's files, otherwise changes you make will erase once you update the theme.

    As you're not tech savvy, the easiest option is to use a Custom CSS plugin.

    Let us know once you have activated that plugin.

    In the area allocated from the CSS plugin, add this;

    .site-header {
     padding-bottom: 0;
    }

    thanks - tried that - but doesn't quite seem to work. the website is entreisa.com/test - and the space between the bottom of the buttons and the image slider is still large?

    Try this instead,

    .entry-header {
     margin-bottom: 0;
    }

    Do you want the space further reduced?

    actually - the first one worked - it just seems that one of my other plugins, the "WOWslider", seems to have a very large margin around it which is stopping it from being displayed properly on screen! any thoughts on how to reduce this margin? thanks so much!

    It seems your WOWslider is adding a paragraph with only a link to a stylesheet (no actual text), so we can hide this from view.

    .entry-content dl ~ p {
     display: none;
    }

    Does that mess up any other pages?

    bingo - thanks so much!!

    now onto problem #2! how do I increase the margin on the left hand side of a page, so that it effectively starts in line with my button bar? sorry!

    I can't envisage what you mean, can you explain further and/or use imagery to explain?

    so the beginning of each individual page text starts on the very left of each screen - i was wondering if i could bring that page margin in a little but, so that the text starts at the beginning of the header bar (so where the buttons are)

    Try adding;

    .template-front-page .widget-area {
     width: 960px;
     margin: 0 auto;
    }

    Looking at your other pages, it seems there's something fundamentally different about your HTML structure compared to the theme's original HTML structure.

    It appears you're missing <div id="main">.

    yes that has brought the widgets in line with where i would like it to be - but the main page text is still left?

    right - so how do I rectify?

    im sorry - but it doesn't seem to have fixed the margin problem between the header and my banner...is there any way of reducing that? the other html did not work...
