Redirecting WP site to domain name root when WP not installed in subdirectory (1 post)

    I have a static html website at http://www.tonymillerknives.com - this is an addon domain mapped to public-html/knifeweb. I also have WP installed in public-html/blog which is blog.tonymillerknives.com. I have rebuilt my old pages in WP and now want to use the WP site as http://www.tonymillerknives.com.

    In the general tab I changed site address to http://www.tonymillerknives.com, copied the index.php file and .htaccess file to public-html/knifeweb and changed
    require( dirname( __FILE__ ) . '/wp-blog-header.php' );
    to
    require( dirname( __FILE__ ) . '/blog/wp-blog-header.php' );

    That didn't work. It caused a 500 error. Then it occurred to me that since the WP install is not in a subdirectory of /knifeweb but in another directory at the same level that I should change it to
    require( dirname( __FILE__ ) . '../blog/wp-blog-header.php' );

    But that didn't work either - same 500 error.

    What am I doing wrong? How do I make this work?

    Thanks for any help you can give.
    Tony
