[resolved] Redirected to homepage when trying to access main blog's dashboard (9 posts)

I am somehow unable to access the dashboard for my main site. I can get to my Network Admin, and the dashboards for my other sites in the network, but for my main blog, anytime I try to get to my dash, edit a page, or edit a post, it redirects me to the blog's homepage.

Disabling all plugins didn't change anything, unfortunately.

I now think the problem is that my homepage keeps trying to point to http://www.domain.com/wp-admin, but when I copy and paste the address without the http://www., it works and I can access the dashboard as usual. Any links to the dashboard from the front end, however, try to use www. and it fails, redirecting me to the homepage.

It looks like something in 3.9 broke the www. redirects, I'm having all kinds of trouble with my site as well, sites that used to respond to http://www.foo.com the same way they did to foo.com are now responding correctly on foo.com and sending them to the root network/site when going to http://www.foo.com

You can put a redirect into .htaccess like this as a temporary fix:

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.domain\.org
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://domain.org$1 [R=permanent,L]

    I tried that, didn't work.

  6. Read https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/27927

I use this and it works:

    RewriteEngine On
    	RewriteBase /
    	RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.(.*)$ [NC]
    	RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://%1/$1 [R=301,L]

Tried both additions to .htaccess and still broken.

  8. Upgrade to 3.9.1 and see if that fixes it.

BTW, make sure you put those .htaccess rules at the TOP of your .htaccess, and don't use both :) Try one. Then the other.
