    Hi all,

I recently was hit with the surprise error message: This webpage has a redirect loop (kbeck.com.au/wp-login.php).

A couple of weeks prior to this I had logged in and performed some admin tasks, updated some plugins and so on. Everything seemed fine, now this.

I’ve searched the forum for help but nothing has worked for me yet.

I’ve logged in to the file server and made sure all folders are 755 and files are 644.

I’ve renamed out the entire plugin folder and tried logging in again but with no change to the error message.

I do have other websites with my host and can log in to these fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions I might follow?

    thanks,

    John.

The blog I need help with is kbec.com.au.

I read another forum after posting and followed a suggestion to rename my htaccess file. I did this and was able to a) see the login prompt and b) login.

What does this mean? do I need to replace or repair my htaccess file?

    Thank you.

    John.

Something you might try is creating a new, empty .htaccess file manually, and make sure it’s writable to WordPress. Go to your permalinks options in your dashboard and “refresh/re-save” your permalink structure, allowing WordPress to re-write the .htaccess file contents, and see if that changes the behavior.

    Clayton,

you are bang on the money. In fact I didn’t have to re-create the .htaccess file. when I performed the save that you suggested, WP re-created the .htaccess file for me.

    Thank you.

    John.

You’re welcome. Glad it was a quick fix!
