Recovery after computer rebuild

Hi – My hard disk crashed and I lost all of my software including WordPress and several plug ins for my blog – is there a way I can recover them? I did not have a local copy backed up 🙁 If not, how do I go about re-installing and accessing my blog? Sorry if this sounds stupid, I set it up so long ago, I just can’t remember!

If the site was only on your local computer and you had no backup someplace else, no, there’s no way to restore it. Is your site also on a server someplace? Or was that a server that crashed?

Hi – yes my site is on a server, so I will be able to access a copy, it’s just I’m not sure about how to reinstall wordpress and whether I can restore all my plugins without having to re-purchase them

You might then be able to move a copy of your site to your local install – http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

This might be helpful too: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/duplicator/

So far as paid plugins, if they don’t copy over, you’d need to ask the vendor – we don’t have any info about any of those.

Thanks – I’ve got into my cpanel and I think WP was installed on the server rather than on my local drive. The only thing is I can’t retrieve the password – any ideas? It says it has sent an email, but nothing arrives 🙁
