Recovering manual backup to store online (3 posts)

I backed up my site manually to be emailed, but the file was too large and I got a "failed" message stating that. How can I recover this backup (it took more than 30 minutes to complete) and store it online?

    Hi gionetdesign,

The way in which files are packaged up is different between online and when emailing. When emailing it is a ZIP archive. When storing online it's a special format that our servers use to store the data. So you can't "recover" the email backup and redirect it online. You need to run the backup again. In fact, when email backup completes, whether successfully or not, the backup data is deleted straight away.

If your files are too large to store online, and in the Event Log it said "The backup is XXX in size" and that size is less than 400MB, we can normally accommodate that fine. If you email your wordpress.backup-technology.com username to support "at" backup-technology.co.uk they can, at their discretion, increase the quota for your account.

    Regards,

    Jason
