• Hi,

I have read how to restore using phpMyAdmin at the codex.

After the site was hacked 30 January night the entire WordPress Site from the server was deleted.
Site was restored from backup of Dec 2012. So my posts of January 2013 are missing.

I wish to recover posts of January 2013.

What is the correct procedure to go about recovering January 2013 posts? Can we selectively pick up January 2013 posts or entire database till the time before the hack should be used?

    • My internet speedtest.in says:
Expected download rate from our servers: 26.04 KB/sec
    • My wp-config db_user password and secret keys were changed. I have both the wp-config.php and .htaccess files

    I have

    • Backup 28 Jan 2013 – FTP
    • Folder name: uploads 37.3 MB
    • Theme folder: living-journal 252 KB
    • Backup 27 Jan 2013 – cPanel
    • Home Directory 507MB
    • MySQL Database 11.6 MB
    • Backup db – 26 Jan 2013 – Google Drive – 12.1 MB
    • Backup 26 Jan 2013 – FTP – Folder wp-content 50.1 MB
    • Backup phpMyAdmin 13 February 2013 –
      Database 51.5 MB
    • Backup cpanel Database 11.9 MB 5 February 2013
    • Zip files on Google Drive: Themes | Uploads |Others | Plugins | db 29 Jan 2013
    • Zip files db 26 Jan 2013 12.1 MB
    • The database backup using phpMyAdmin size is 51.5 MB and that from cpanel mySQL is 12.1 MB. Both are different. This is confusing me.

I believe I should be using 12.1 MB backup of database from Google Drive
      using phpMyAdmin.
      Am I correct?

      Your guidance will be appreciated.

      Regards,
      Dr. Ashok Koparday

    Hi,

I uploaded another database, which contains January 2013 posts and all in cPanel.

How do I transfer the wp_posts, etc to the database that is now showing my website?

    Hi drashok,
What I would do if I were you is sheet a bit. I have no idea how to restore just part of the db, so what I would do instead is set up a copy of the site on my localhost or at another temp server, whatever is easiest for you.

Then, I would just look at the post and copy and paste from one WP site to the next.

You could also just open up the db in your phpMyAdmin on your localhost, find the content of the post and just copy and paste the content in a new post on your live site.

As I said, this is not the professional way to do it. I a bit of a cowboy, but hey whatever works. 😉

    Hi Christine,
I am glad to read your reply. The cowboy is in trouble. Just noticed that the site got hacked. The message displayed is:

” _ _ _This is an operation to reject the Valentine’s day.
    We are Muslim soldiers _ _ _”

I had wordfence plugin for web security.
I had updraftplus plugin for backup on Google Drive.

The backup on Google Drive is a file that ends with db. On importing it with phpMyAdmin
    MySQL error says:
    DROP TABLE IF EXISTS wp_commentmeta ;
I don’t know how to proceed after this error message.

I haven’t done this before, but if it is possible then I will copy the content of the posts from phpMyAdmin. Images I already have in ‘upload’
    folder.

I am waiting for the server host to delete my hacked site.

    Thanks for being,
    Dr. Ashok Koparday
