   I created a WP site (my first) in a directory that wasn't part of my "public" folder (created it in a subdirectory)

   I needed to move it so that I could take advantage of a new domain name I purchased. The tech support person at my hosting company told me all I had to do was drag and drop the folder with the WP site to the "public" folder.

   I did and it didn't work. I dragged it back to the original folder, but it still doesn't work. I believe all the files are there. I just get the "Oops! This like appears to be broken." message.

   I don't have a back up.

   Any ideas on how to restore the functionality to this site?

   Added: If you have lost files, ask your web host about restoring a backup of your site.

   Thanks for the help. I was able to get the host to restore a backup. I lost 5 days of work. I backed up the MySQL database before the site restore and tried to restore the MySQL database after - but it didn't work. Is there a way to recover individual page/post info from the MySQL?

   You could open the .sql file with a text or code editor and recover the text, but it may be hard to find and have weird stuff in it like \n\n that would need to be removed.
