   I am displaying a list of posts in my sidebar using the Recent Posts widget. i would like to include some extra information along with the post title in the list: date posted and a capture of the first, say, 200 words of the post content.

   is it possible to configure this widget to display this extra info?

   check the widget's options.

   This is easy to do which just the template tags - examples in codex.
