recent posts (portfolio only) posts in widget

hey everyone,

I’m creating a website that will give users the ability to download marketing materials and I’d I’ll be creating individual portfolio posts for each download item. The recent posts or freshpopular widgets are only posting recent page posts and not recognizing portfolio posts.

Can anyone help me figure out how to show recent portfolio posts in a widget form as opposed to regular page posts?

I’ve been searching for a plug-in but haven’t found anything yet.
