I was getting too much comment spam so switched off all comments thinking this would stop it.
But no, I am still receiving comments although all posts now have comments switched off.
How is this happening and how can I stop it?

Posted 4 years ago #If you turned it off in your options menu then no it doesn't turn off comment for those post already made. I would suggest using askimet, it's bundled with wordpress and does a good job at stopping spam.
