I use Godaddy shared hosting w/ windows and do not have a htaccess file so I followed other directions from the forum and created a web.config file to add the rules text. I was able to add sites to my network but when I try to access the dashboard on one of my added sites i get a 404 error.

Sorry didn't know you couldn't bump. I think I am going to switch over to linux. I was avoiding Linux more out of apprehension since i've never used it before. Seems like most people run Linux and don't have the issues.
Neither is perfect, but IIS6 (which many servers are still on) is much harder to run WordPress on than Linux or IIS7.

Thanks for your help. Will I need to reinstall everything all over again or is it just a simple switch with my hosting provider?
I don't know actually. Godaddy should be able to flip you over, but it depends on how they're set up.
