[resolved] really stupid question... (4 posts)

Okay, I *think* I'm ready to release my first theme. And now for the dumb question of the day - where do I put it? I plan to put a downloadable version on my own website (as a zipped file) but should I make it available somewhere else?

Please slap me upside the head with the answer :)

Well, you can upload it to the new wp theme viewer:
    http://themes.wordpress.net

Other than that? Not really. However, you can login to the Codex and add your theme to the list there. You can post about it in your blog and hopefully it will be picked up by blogs/places that keep an eye on such posts...
And also, make a post about it here :)

first off, make sure your theme is zipped with with only one folder inside it, and that your theme includes a screenshot.png file.

    also, check out this:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Designing_Themes_for_Public_Release

once you're sure it's ready, go to
    http://themes.wordpress.net/upload-theme/
and upload and tag. make sure to ask theundersigned for a login so you can update your theme as necessary.

    there's also
    http://themes.blogflux.com/
if it supports widgets, email it to andy:
    widgets [at] wordpress [dot] com

and if you're a deviantart.com kinda person, upload it there and tag it 'wordpress'
