• I’m in the early of a redesign for a club website. I’m evaluating a few options for a CMS, WP is at the top of the list. This is a shot in the dark and I haven’t thought it through completely, but is anyone aware of an existing plugin that would extend the wordpress user database and have a front end that would allow robust user management features. I’d like to have the real world member database be handled by wordpress – I’d like it to be the same database.

I’m still waiting on some info from the membership VP regarding what requirements it would have, but it’s not too complex. We’d need to be able to administer member information, get some reports and we’d like it if users could join and renew by making payments online (via paypal in all likelihood).

    Any ideas?

  • I would honestly say that you should look into WordPress MU is this is what you want to do. There are member management plugins, but believe you me, they are nothing compared to MU.

If you’re hoping to get a lot of members and really do a proper job, then WordPress will always limit you as you move forwards, that’s the soul reason MU was developed..

Cool. MU was on my radar already because getting multiple blogs is a long term goal. I’ll install MU and play around with it and see if it’ll meet our needs.

    Thanks
