• My plugin for real estate, Great Real Estate, has been released and is now available for download at WordPress.org Extend / Plugin Directory:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/great-real-estate/.

This first version contains a lot of features, but can be configured fairly simply from the start. The main premise of this first version is to display an agent’s own listings in a nice format, without custom html. But it also integrates a photo gallery (from NextGen Gallery), videos (from wordTube), panoramas (from FPP-Pano), Google maps, downloads, and RSS feeds to sites such as Google Base, Trulia, Zillow, and My Yahoo!.

I’m working on detailed user documentation, and that will be added to the Great Real Estate plugin homepage in the coming few days.

Hopefully this will be helpful to the folks who have been looking for a WordPress plugin to easily display their listings.

I’d love to hear your feature requests and feedback!

    Roger

  • Thanks for this. I have a couple of questions.

Based on your screenshots I would need to move a few elements around to work with my design. Does the layout work entirely off a CSS file?

Will this plugin work for countries other then the US?

How often will you be providing updates to the plugin? In my past experience with Realtor tools is support gets dropped and my clients are left with a aging, breaking site.

    Thanks again,

@gillsans, first of all, you can control everything – first with CSS and if you need different fields in different places, you can customize a template with template tags.

The plugin supports localization and there’s already an Italian file that comes with the plugin. Localization includes changing terms like feet and acres to meters and hectares, even English phrases like “for rent” to the local equivalent “to let” if you will…

As for updates and support, I plan to add features and you can find out more on my user forums. Updates depend on my schedule and how important the update is. But the nice thing about WordPress is, it’s all PHP and the plugin is licensed under the GPL so there’s no dead end even if I get hit by a bus one day…

    Hey
Maybe i’m on the wrong forum, but i got this in my email, went directly into spam (i’m a designer and worked with the guys who sent me that link few months ago – they work on real estate sites, i worked on the main site theme and the blog theme too – i had some clients and they build their real estate site) … but i usually check that too because some of the messages i want actually to get go into spam too

http://www.wprealestatelistings.com/realestate/wordpress … they say it allows you to “bring in” search, search results, listing details page and so on (you can read them on their page) directly into wordpress and still post on it

I saw many people interested in a real estate plugin for wordpress so i said you might want to check that out too

    Thanks

Awesome plugin! I’m gonna really check it out, thanks.

To wordpress_guy, please stop promoting your stuff in other people’s threads, that’s not cool. This thread was about RogerTheriault plugin, not the people you have partnered with. Thank you.

VERY IMPORTANT FRAUD NOTICE about WPRealEstateListings.com!
wordpress_guy is in fact a spammer, and his name is actually Vlad Dates Mihai, a Romanian programmer wanted by US Authorities for fraud. Dont belive me? check out the US FTC website where two serious complaints are levied against him for taking NAR Listings and selling the data elsewhere.

Vlad Dates Mihai, please quite promoting stolen software. You don’t even have the intelligence to write your own content for your demo, you stole it from my site WPFeatured.com and EZProRealty.com This is not ethical or honest and you should be ashamed. Not to mention you jack Rogers post about his product you unethical thief. Also I reported your demo for having NAR listings. You are not a Realtor, just a scammer.

    Roger – this looks great!

I have need of something like this right now but just wondering if there’s anywhere i can get a full listing of all available search and listing options for each property (ie what are all the fields you can add detail for, and which of those are you able to search??)..

I tried looking in your demo site but couldn’t really find any search options??

    cheers.

@modelcitizen – no search options yet. It’s more designed (in the current version) for listing agents to showcase a handful of listings.

I am wondering if its possible to edit the plug-in to drag the property listings into a WP template from our own web services database? Is this possible, and could you assist with that development?

I’m keeping an eye on this from a property investors point of view. There is also many options such as investor portfolios or buyers agent listings, ummm investors portfolios documented from interviews and not to mention real estate agents.

I think agents will mostly need something as simple as possible so that should always be the focus. Australia. Street view included? You may think this is off topic but getting investors to your website is buyers.

I’m in Australia and i know investors love this http://www.suburbview.com if there was a separate plugin and page for this it would only be a click away from an agents link… It’s big on the search thing, but hey if you can enter a way that the agent simply adds their page to pull there listings into it. It be a great way to get heaps of other agents using your listings plugin to send into a centralized list to a http://www.suburbview.com type web site which will help your software expand because it gives agents a reason to send their ‘my listings’ page feeds in.

It might be an idea for a plugin for somebody else. I actually submitted in the ideas forum today before i found this. talking to much. Bye. Whatever you do try keep it all simple.

For that suburbview.com (and similar sites), all it needs to do is read the syndication feeds (ie Trulia or Zillow) from a Great-Real-Estate enabled site. Both feeds are similar. (Google base is a bit different, but another option too).

Hi Roger, thanks for the plugin. Now Maybe is this template that I’m using, I cannot figure it out yet, when I do a new page under another one to do the listing it add one link of this sub-page on the header menu. I was looking on the .css but I couldn’t make any diference.

Well hope you can help me, Thanks.

Roger, Great plugin! I will defiantly donate soon.

I’m having a problem with the listing index and the thumbnail pic. When i run NextGen v1+ it crashes the listing index and i just get one blank green box. (I’m running Great RE v1.2.1). I can fix the problem by removing the thumbnail php call from the listing index template or by downgrading to NextGEN v.99.1. Any ideas? Could it be my server or php version?

Any input is appreciated! I’m running now with the downgraded NextGEN but i’d love to get to the current version…

    Thanks,
    Matt

opps. make that definitely not defiantly πŸ™‚

    @theyateser – if it’s a fatal error complaining about a non-existent function, you probably aren’t running a newer PHP5 version.

Is this plugin available for wpmu?

    This really looks great.
